Simon Kohler of Hornby has asked that the following is published for BRMA members:
Dear Friends,
It was with a great deal of regret that I had to cancel my trip to see you all at such short notice. As many of you are aware my wife is not enjoying the best of health at the moment and I felt that being such a long way from home, even for just a few days was not the right thing to do under the circumstances.
I do feel particularly sorry for Graham as it was he who approached me some years ago now with the invitation to talk to you all at the BRMA Convention and as I do love to visit your country, even though the chaps at your Immigration desk always look at me a bit funny it was not hard for me to say yes.
Australia is a very important market for Hornby and the feedback that I receive from you modellers is of great assistance when formulating my plans and ranges for future years, so coming to see you all on mass would have been ideal for me to thank you all personally. As it is I will have to rely on Graham to pass on my very personal thanks to you all and please do keep in contact.
As I have written, I do enjoy my visits to your wonderful country. The good hearted humour and teasing I receive is always welcome and I thank you for that but more importantly on behalf of my wife and I, I would like to thank you all for your very kind thoughts at this time and such kind consideration. It is very much appreciated.
Enjoy the Convention and please keep in contact. We may be on opposite sides of the World but in my mind’s eye you are only a keyboard stroke away.
With sincerest regards
Simon
